Embark on a Halloween adventure at Babbacombe Model Village, where you can stay active whilst exploring award-winning gardens filled with meticulously crafted miniature scenes, vehicles, and people. This unique pocket-sized depiction of Britain is brimming with hidden jokes that will entertain visitors of all ages, and don’t miss the fire-breathing dragon display.
Better yet, this October half-term, the village will transfigure itself into a spooktacular scene for Halloween! From October 21st to October 31st, Babbacombe village transforms with spooky Halloween-themed additions, scaring its tiny residents. Just a short 2.3 mile drive from our charming Norton Park chalets in Dartmouth, the Dartmouth Food Festival is a must-visit. Originating in 2004, this festival has grown into one of the main events in South Devon.
Prepare for a day packed with entertainment, workshops, competitions, and much more—a culinary experience you won’t want to miss. The best part? It’s entirely free to attend!

You can’t come to the Devon coast and not spend time at one of our beautiful beaches. October half term may not be the time to visit the beach for swimming and sunbathing, but you can still enjoy a paddle, a picnic and some beach games! The beautiful Blackpool sands beach, situated in the hamlet of Blackpool, is perfect for leisurely strolls, family bonding, and indulging in delectable treats.
Just a three-mile meander along the cliff, perhaps with pit stops at local cafes and pubs along the way, you’ll be greeted by the expansive sandy coastline and breath taking views that will captivate visitors of all ages.
For those seeking adventure the area is known for its kayaking, paddle boarding, and alternative water sports, provided you have the equipment, the beach offers a great chance to stay active during your getaway. If you prefer a more relaxed experience, you can set up at the Blackpool Sands Café and Takeaway, and savour the soothing sound of waves crashing onto the beach on the South Devon coast.
